As a co-signer on a bail bond, your responsibilities are to:
- Make sure the defendant meets all court-ordered appearances.
- Make sure Monterey Bail Bond Store is notified of up-coming, scheduled court appearances, whether you or the defendant tell us.
- Pay the 10% premium, if applicable.
It is wisest only to commit to being a cosigner if you trust the defendant enough to appear in court. If you genuinely believe they might skip out and put your money and their life at further risk, maybe it’s best not to be their cosigner. But chances are slim for that – after all, skipping court just worsens their situation.
